Sabine's Reviews > Goddess With a Blade
Wow, and here I thought I was through with vampire novels! I couldn't stop reading this book. It was captivating and entertaining and sometimes even funny. I liked the witty Rowan very much. She sometimes reminded me of Kate Daniels but in a good way. Clive was uptight and annoying at first but then I couldn't stop grinning because he was so helpless in his adoration for Rowan. Her history with her foster faster Theo was interesting and at first I was appalled at what he did to her parents and how it influenced their relationship.
I found the different parts of the story very interesting: There is the goddess thing and that Rowan is a vessel for this powerful goddess Bridget and their interaction. And of course there are the acolyte of the goddess. Then there is this Hunter Corporation who exists to keep an eye on the vampires and their behaviour. After they killed humans in the past, this corporation was established to keep them from harming humans. And at last - the vampires! They do not glitter in the sun :-) but they can fly. They live in nests and are registered; at least most are. The scion is their master and he keeps them in line. There are some other magical creatures in this book but they are not really labeled. I really like the strange taxi driver who called himself Carl and seems to be fond of Rowan. He is not human but not even Rowan knows exactly what he is. And there are these so-called Dust Devils. I did not fully understand what kind of creatures they are but they seem to be deadly and dangerous.
The storyline was interesting and captivating and I really look forward to the next instalment. I really hope that Rowan can mend her friendship with Jack and of course I'm very curious how her relationship with Clive develops. Great book and I definitely recommend to read it.
