Bihar Elections 2025: ...Don't let them go out on election day,

A political storm has erupted just two days before the first phase of voting in the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections. An old video of Janata Dal (United) national president and Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh, also known as Lalan Singh, has caused a major controversy. In the video, Lalan Singh is allegedly seen saying that some leaders should not be allowed to vote on election day and should be confined to their homes. The opposition party, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), viralized the video, calling it proof of voter suppression. The Election Commission has issued a notice to Lalan Singh, seeking his response. The NDA has dismissed it as an old video, but the matter is escalating. This controversy is intensifying the polarization in Bihar politics, where voting is scheduled for 65 seats in the first phase on November 6.

The video incident is reportedly related to the 2015 Bihar Assembly elections. At that time, Lalan Singh was a prominent leader of the JDU and a close confidant of Nitish Kumar. In the video, he is seen addressing a rally or meeting. He says, "There are some leaders here, don't let them go out on election day, keep them confined to their homes." The RJD called it a conspiracy to prevent poor and backward classes from voting. Party spokesperson Mrityunjay Tiwari said that this video proves that the NDA wants to snatch away the votes of the poor. He said that Lalan Singh's statement is an attack on democracy. The RJD shared the video on social media with the hashtag #LalanSinghVoterSuppression. It has received millions of views. The opposition claims that this is part of the NDA's strategy to prevent Dalit, Muslim, and EBC voters from casting their votes.

Lalan Singh immediately retaliated. He said that the video is old and edited. It is from 2015, when the JDU and RJD were in an alliance. Lalan Singh clarified that his remarks were directed at opposition leaders who are of a criminal nature. He said that he had said that such people who are a threat to society should not be allowed to vote. JDU spokesperson Neeraj Kumar said that the RJD is spreading lies. The video is edited and taken out of context. He said that the NDA is protecting democracy, while the Grand Alliance wants to bring back the rule of the jungle. Lalan Singh targeted Tejashwi Yadav, saying that he himself is the heir to 20 years of jungle raj (lawlessness). This statement came at an NDA rally where he was supporting Anant Singh, the candidate from Mokama. For more news update visit here: https://vibrantnews24.com/
