Spandex Prices in India | |
On July 1st, the price of duty-paid spandex grade 20D in Ahmedabad increased by Rs.3, reaching Rs.354/ kg, up from Rs.351 on June 30th. This price hike is primarily driven by consistent demand from the textile and garment manufacturing sector, coupled with limited domestic stock availability. Spandex, also known as elastane, is a highly stretchable synthetic fiber widely used in activewear, sportswear, undergarments, and stretchable fashion apparel. The 20D (denier) grade indicates a very fine filament, ideal for blending with other fibers to produce lightweight, flexible, and body-hugging fabrics. The Ahmedabad market, being a central hub for fabric and garment production, often reacts quickly to changes in demand and supply trends. Traders report that steady offtake from hosiery and athleisure manufacturers has put upward pressure on prices. Looking ahead, market players anticipate that spandex prices may remain firm or show further mild increases if the demand persists and no major change occurs in raw material import costs or global supply conditions.
