Menstruation: What Is It? || XoxToysCanada

Menstruation, more frequently referred to as a period, is the regular vaginal discharge of blood and uterine lining.

THE MENSTRUAL CYCLE'S PHASES
The four phases of the menstrual cycle are the result of a complicated interaction between the female reproductive system and the body's hormones.
Although each person's menstrual cycle is unique, on average, a period lasts for 28 days. The picture shows how the uterine lining and the egg interact throughout each of the four phases.

1. THE FOLLICULAR PHASE
The ovaries are stimulated by hormonal changes throughout this period to stimulate follicular growth. Unfertilized eggs are contained in follicles, and each month one egg is ready to be released through the dominant follicle. Estrogen levels also start to rise at this time, which causes the uterine lining to thicken in preparation for a fertilized egg.

2. THE OVULATION
Around 14 days go by between ovulation and menstruation. The mature egg is discharged into the fallopian tube during this phase when the ovarian follicle bursts. The egg moves through the fallopian tube and into the uterus after ovulation. The uterine lining is thickening in preparation for an egg at the same time. After 24 hours, an unfertilized egg disintegrates.

3. LUTEAL PHASE
The follicle that housed the mature egg changes into something known as corpus luteum after ovulation. Hormones, particularly progesterone, are released by the corpus luteum. This rise in hormones aids the uterine lining in maintaining its thickness and preparing for the implantation of a fertilized egg.
The corpus luteum begins to degrade and the progesterone and estrogen levels fall if the egg is not fertilized. This causes menstruation to begin. Many people have PMS symptoms, which are correlated with hormonal changes that take place during the luteal phase.

4. MENSATURATION
Through the vagina, the uterus lining begins to shed. The menstrual fluid is made up of uterine tissue and blood. The follicular phase starts when the menstrual phase is finished, and the cycle then restarts.
Menstrual cups are made to help vulvar patients during their menstrual cycle. These cups are reusable, making them more cost- and environmentally friendly than tampons or pads. These well-liked cups also have the advantages of a longer wearing time, fewer leaks, and less irritation.
