Ahmedabad, August 11, 2025, The price of Cast Polypropylene (CPP) Metalized Film, grade 25 micron, has shown a marginal upward movement in the Ahmedabad plastics raw material market. As per data from Indian Petrochem, the grade was trading at Rs.145 per kilogram on August 8, which increased to Rs.147 per kilogram by August 11 — marking a rise of Rs.2/kg over the three-day period. According to market sources quoted by Indian Petrochem, the recent price increase is largely driven by a slight pickup in demand from flexible packaging converters, particularly those catering to FMCG and snack food segments. This uptick comes ahead of the festive season, when packaging material demand traditionally strengthens. Many processors in Ahmedabad have begun to replenish stocks to meet expected order inflows in the coming weeks. Industry participants told Indian Petrochem that stable to slightly firm polypropylene (PP) feedstock prices have also played a role in supporting the current price levels. PP, being the primary raw material for CPP films, has maintained steady pricing in recent weeks due to balanced supply-demand dynamics, both domestically and in the global market. This stability has prevented any downward correction in CPP film rates. Export inquiries for certain specialized CPP grades have added further support to the market. Packaging converters supplying to overseas markets have been actively sourcing material, helping to maintain positive sentiment in the Ahmedabad market. Traders noted that while the price increase is modest, it could signal a stabilizing trend after a phase of fluctuation observed in the past few weeks. Market analysts tracking the segment for Indian Petrochem believe that short-term price direction will depend on key factors such as crude oil price trends, PP feedstock adjustments, and downstream order volumes from end-user industries. Additionally, logistical costs and any fluctuations in import parity levels could also influence the domestic pricing environment. Overall, the market outlook remains cautiously optimistic. If festive demand picks up as anticipated and feedstock costs remain firm, there could be further upward movement in CPP metalized film prices in the coming weeks.
