Is old age home a fact of life? There have been several changes in recent times that have had an impact on society in numerous fields be it societal, financial and personal. Changes in lifestyles, some for the better and a few with negative consequences. However, senior citizens face certain problems as a result of social transformation. This is reflected in the transition from the traditional ways of life to modern patterns, which require many compromises and adjustments. Hence old age home is the ultimate solutions for the elders. According to me, Sumukha is one of the best old age home near me. There was the much-acclaimed joint family or extended family system wherein the elders lived with not only their children but also with their brothers, sisters, uncles, aunts in nearby houses, mostly in villages or in small towns. Everyone was very close at hand for any emergencies such as any health issues or deaths. This enabled the older people to lead a reasonably happy life without any tension, as they had the confidence that someone would take care of them when needed. | |
