compound rubber grade SMR20 price increase in Delhi Market

In Delhi’s wholesale rubber market, the price of compound rubber grade SMR20 saw a noticeable uptick today. On May 15, 2025, the price stood at Rs.155/kilogram, which rose to Rs.157/kilogram on May 16—a Rs.2 increase in just 24 hours. The market reacted swiftly, with traders and manufacturers keeping a close watch on future movements. The price hike is being driven by a mix of international and domestic factors. Disruptions in global supply chains, higher shipping costs, and declining natural rubber output in producing nations like Malaysia, Thailand, and Indonesia have created supply constraints. SMR20, or Standard Malaysian Rubber, is primarily exported by Malaysia, with major international suppliers including Top Glove Corporation, Sri Trang Agro-Industry, and Halcyon Agri. India, although a consumer-heavy market, also has its own set of producers and processors such as Rubber Board of India (via Rubbermark), Harrisons Malayalam Ltd., and Kanan Devan Hills Plantations, who contribute to domestic rubber processing. However, the gap between demand and indigenous supply means India remains significantly dependent on imports of SMR20 and other rubber grades. Heavy rains in some Indian regions have also caused logistical delays, further tightening the supply pipeline. At the same time, rising demand from industries like automotive, footwear, and industrial goods is putting upward pressure on prices. Traders say that if this trend continues, prices could soon breach the ₹160/kg mark. The rising cost of raw materials like SMR20 could soon start impacting the cost of finished rubber products. Small and mid-sized manufacturers, who are already facing high input costs, may bear the brunt of this increase. End consumers might eventually feel the impact in the form of higher product prices. For now, stakeholders across the supply chain—from producers to traders and end manufacturers—are monitoring the situation closely. A small shift in either supply or demand could trigger further volatility in the days to come, compound rubber Prices in India, Indian compound rubber Prices, Indian Prices compound rubber, Indianpetrochem.
