NELP policy India The New Exploration Licensing Policy (NELP) was introduced by the Government of India in 1997 to attract private and foreign investment in the oil and gas sector. Aimed at increasing domestic energy production, NELP allowed equal opportunities for public and private companies in exploration and production. It replaced earlier nomination-based systems, offering transparent bidding and investor-friendly terms. Under NELP, companies could explore onshore, offshore, and deep-water blocks. The policy played a key role in liberalizing India's hydrocarbon sector and boosting resource discovery. NELP was later succeeded by the Hydrocarbon Exploration and Licensing Policy (HELP) in 2016 for more efficient energy governance, NELP policy India, Indianpetroplus #NELPpolicyIndia #Indianpetroplus | |
