August 7, 2025 | Source: Indianpetrochem, The price of Fumed Silica (Grade N-20) registered a slight decline in the Delhi plastics and chemicals raw material market. According to the latest update from Indianpetrochem, the material was trading at Rs.714 per kilogram on August 6 ,2025 which fell to Rs.712 per kilogram on August 7 , 2025 marking a Rs.2/kg drop in just one day. Fumed silica, widely used in adhesives, sealants, coatings, cosmetics, and silicone rubber formulations, has seen steady demand in the northern region. However, traders attribute the current price decline to low procurement activity by bulk buyers and stable international supply, which has kept pressure on domestic sellers to adjust rates. As per Indianpetrochem, the slight dip in pricing reflects the broader trend of price correction in specialty chemical additives where short-term demand has softened. Converters and manufacturers are avoiding large-volume purchases, awaiting further clarity on raw material trends and monsoon-related industrial slowdowns. Indian Producers: While India imports a large portion of its fumed silica requirements, there are a few domestic players involved in compounding and distribution:- Aditya Birla Chemicals – While not a direct manufacturer of fumed silica, the company deals in specialty additives and distributes imported grades., Cabot India Ltd. – An important distributor of performance materials, involved in bringing global grades to Indian markets., Indian compounding firms typically rely on international grades for high-end applications, and pricing remains highly sensitive to landed costs.
