Raw Jute TD-5 grade saw a clear decline in the Delhi market amid seasonal supply pressure, Prices dropped by Rs.3/kg, falling from Rs.83/kg on August 5 to Rs.80/kg on August 7, 2025. According to market insights published by Indianpetrochem, the correction was driven by increased arrivals from ongoing harvesting, which have weighed on major mandi rates. Raw jute, widely used in the manufacturing of gunny bags, ropes, carpets, and handicrafts, tends to experience lower demand during the monsoon period, as mills and exporters manage their inventory cycles more conservatively. The TD-5 grade, being a medium-quality fibre, is primarily utilized for packaging and low-grade fabric applications. Despite the government's Minimum Support Price (MSP) for raw jute being fixed at Rs. 5,650 per quintal, real-time market rates often move independently based on regional supply and demand. As per recent data reviewed by Indian Petrochem, the price fall in Delhi is also influenced by active stock clearance by traders and consistent arrivals from jute-producing regions such as West Bengal. Moving forward, Indianpetrochem anticipates that if rainfall remains normal and industrial demand revives, prices may recover to the Rs. 83–85/kg range. However, in the absence of a demand surge, the market may continue to hover between Rs. 78–80/kg in the short term.
