GMDC, the largest lignite producer in Gujarat and second-largest in India, plays a major role in the state’s thermal power generation. We also fulfill various needs of the state through our mining of minerals such as bauxite, fluorspar, manganese, silica sand, limestone and ball clay. Lignite is important for textiles, ceramics, chemicals and brick manufacturing, while other minerals are crucial for manufacturing of hydrofluoric acid and purifying water to manufacture glass and ceramic ware, and drilling oil. We are also developing a rare earth ecosystem in Chota Udepur to fulfill rare earth needs of the country.
